When you chose to go to India, after so many years of longing for this magical place, you will be amazed. Not pleased, not overwhelmed, not excited, maybe just shocked. Because it sure will not be anything you expected, certainly not what you were imagining and much more than you can bear.

It is just that, you are entering into another world, a different dimension, so even your imagination has to be changed. There is one more thing, if you really embrace this way of existing, there is no coming back. You will always be enchanted. So from now on, wherever you are and whatever you do, you will always need a bit more- a bit warmer, a bit more color, a bit louder and certainly everything with a smile. New standards, values that will become life necessities.

You have been to India, that is how it is done over there.

Therefore, this is how it goes …

Smiling

This is a country of nearly 1.5 billion people. We can say quite a crowd, if we want total understatement. There are people everywhere, mostly you are along with them on the streets while they are sitting, washing, sleeping, working, selling, just mingling, but always with a smile. Just like that, for no better reason than being happy to see you. And they really are, if you start talking to them. Because, is not it great to meet and have a few kind words?

Very soon you get used to this, without hesitation. And at home, it will strike you, how little we smile.

Time

In India, everything can wait. And there is absolutely no other way, because time is not everything, it's not even too relevant. What can happen now, certainly can be done a bit later, tomorrow or on some other occasion. Let it go! You are in a general, different time zone.

So, while you wait in a restaurant, hotel, train station, do not take waiting so badly. Everything worth waiting will come in its own time. Impatience if you are having it, is just because you are running on a wrong speed. This is an absolute stress relief, once learned.

Chaos

Usually this is a first impression once you step into Indian soil. No order whatever. Traffic, dirt, streets, shops, sounds, smells, buildings, cows, everything are in a complete mess, attacking, choking and rushing right at you. This state of mind is not a mirage, you will rarely find an order that we know. There are too many people, too much poverty and not too much need for neatness. But then again, it's manageable and very soon we take it as something common and with its own logic and beauty.

Too much order is stressful, being easygoing is natural. This kind of freedom is one we had as children, to come back to it, is a gift.

Faith

Considering this, we are somewhat, amateurs. For most of us, faith is a statement, family tradition, way of upbringing, practice, culture, something to distinguish one another. Very rarely a way of life itself, one everyday basis.

In India, they literally live with their gods. Every morning begins with offerings, in temples they bath, change clothes, leave food to the gods and pray with full heart. Ganga is a goddess, it's enough just to sit on its banks and meditate.

Faith is something close, warm and understanding. What gives hope, releases with no high demands. Having understanding gods, gives opportunity to rejoice and celebrate rather than be intimidated and guilty for being a sinner. That way, spirituality is becoming a perspective you live, not high demand you try to avoid. And that's easy to embrace.

Many people come to India just for that spiritual spring. One month is literally nothing for overcoming it, but coming back home, you will find that you have a new habit, if nothing more. Somehow, even just stopping for a while in the good thought if not to meditate, will become your everyday need.

Bigger than life

India is a place that exists for more or less, from the beginning. There are places, cities that can not be determined in which historical period they have been created. Monuments, that are made for eternity, and they hold on beauty for centuries, with no defects. Religion gives a new perspective to eternity, death and versatility of life along with their time perspective and reconciliation with destiny.

And this is a way of existence that gives you a truly positive attitude to every day, not like being the last one, but being today, in full appreciation and all possibilities. Enjoy, celebrate, love – today and in that way build your path to eternity. Death is not a surprise or the end, life changing occasions are not just fearful, everything is part of a cycle much bigger than you. So, we all know this, but they live it. With not too much fuss.

Truly, there is no way you can take this for granted and just embrace it. Certainly not for just a month. But only observing, gives you a thought that maybe there is something wrong with our perspective. Quite a thought!

Nature

Even not seeing it all or much, I can certainly say it's grand. Visiting northern parts, Himalayas to be exact, took the breath away. Biggest mountains in the world, suddenheless, and that fresh air you can never get enough. After that, Ganga in Rishikesh, green mountain river with white sand shores and some magnetic energy that attracts you. Desert Tar, yellow sand and colorful sunset, dawns on the moles of Pushkar Lake with its white and silver glows and shimmer. Rocky hills on the road around the Monkey temple and bushes where peacocks mingle. At the end, the Ganga in Varanasi, a place where they say time started. No words to describe it. Go, see it yourself!

What does it mean when you come back home? You will get used to great views if nothing more. So, go for it, find them, there must be somewhere you are.

People coming back from India are easy to recognize. They have colorful clothes, mala beads and all kinds of necklaces and bracelets, funny dreads in their hair and lots and lots of happiness on their faces. They are infected with Indian spirit, and it usually goes away after some time.

Usually but not for all … Till next time, Namaste JI!

Not far from Kronstadt, the silent walls of the fort “Emperor Alexander I” or “Plague” rise from the water of the Gulf of Finland. The history of the abandoned building, in which a mysterious laboratory was located a hundred years ago, still excites residents and guests of St. John's. Petersburg.

The military history of the fort “Emperor Alexander I” turned out to be rather short. In 1838 the Russian Emperor Nicholas I decided to build a fortress. During the Crimean War (1853-1856) and after it the fort was modernized many times, and these measures ensured the complete inaccessibility of Kronstadt for the Anglo-French fleet. Neverheless, at the end of the 19th century, the equipment of “Alexander I” became obsolete, and it ceased to perform military functions. It was from this moment began the most mysterious page in the history of the fort.

In 1894, an epidemic of plague broke out in Hong Kong and Canton. About one hundred thousand people died. From China, the disease began to penetrate into other countries. By 1896, the plague reached the Caspian steppes of Russia. Isolated from the outside world, the fortification was ideal for deadly jobs, and here was placed Komochum , Russia's first anti-epidemic laboratory, where several doctors died in experiments with dangerous microbes. Residents of Kronstadt were afraid even of the winds blowing from the side of the fort.

Admission to the fort was strictly limited, communicating with the outside world was maintained with the help of a small steamer, which had a funny name “Microbe”. With Kronstadt, the fort was connected by a telephone line, and with Petersburg – by a telegraph.

The two-story outside fort had three floors inside. The building was symmetrically divided into two halves, each had its own staircase. One of the stones, the other cast-iron. The right part, consistent office space was contagious, the left part was non-contagious. At the fort there were laboratories, operating rooms, stables and rooms for other animals, on which scientists tried the actions of invented drugs: cows, goats, camels, monkeys, rabbits and even reindeers. There were also cremation ovens for recycling waste and corpses, a sterilizer, a laundry, a sauna, a kitchen, an electric station, doctors' rooms, a dining room, a museum, a library and other necessary apartments.

It is difficult to imagine the full significance of the work of all those who worked at the Plague Fort , who gave the opportunity to put a reliable barrier to the most terrible epidemics and theby save millions of human lives.

Today, Plague Fort has the sad fate of all the ancient Kronstadt fortifications. Like other ports, it typically deteriorates. Although the fort still has something to see: unique cast-iron staircases, mechanisms and walls of the fort are preserved. They say that in the basement you can find even an old oven. Here and there the “legacy of filmmakers” is left – everything that was used for the filming of documentary films.

In the summer tourists come here on a small steamer to look at the ruins of the fort-riddle. In winter, some daredevils get here on foot along the ice of the bay.

Tips for Las Vegas First-Timers

It can be alarming for first-timers. They see hands move very fast in changing chips, just like some magical show, and when they stop focusing for 30 seconds, they may end up gambling their house by mistake. It would help to brush up on the main rules ahead of time, but also to look for…

It can be alarming for first-timers. They see hands move very fast in changing chips, just like some magical show, and when they stop focusing for 30 seconds, they may end up gambling their house by mistake. It would help to brush up on the main rules ahead of time, but also to look for a smaller casino that has a youngger crowd – since the tables have a tendency to be less noisy, and the minimum bets will be much lower. Even if they do not intend to, croupiers often hint when gamblers make a bad choice, and it is important to keep in mind that you are competitive against the dealer and not the other players. This takes off some pressure.

Those who want to bet with pennies instead of pounds should play video poker. It is easier to pay and when they offer $ 3 to $ 5 as a tip to their waitress, then a dollar per round after, they will enjoy free all-you-can-drink beer, vodka or whiskey.

Buffet Binge

Buffet is king in Las Vegas. Along the strip, there are more than one hundred fine dining restaurants. However, there are so many of these all over the world. What is nice about this is the fact that people can eat to their heart's desire all the prime cut steak, sushi, lobster rolls, giant crab legs, cakes, cookies and cheese for just about $ 25. They can choose to eat in this restaurant, or have breakfast at Planet Hollywood Hotel, lunch at Bellagio and dinner at Aria. It would be nice to wear stretched pants.

View the strip from the top

Anyone who will view the strip from a very high location will naturally be awed. On the other hand, it is unfortunate for a person to have a room with a view of the car park instead of the strip, but there are still many places with nice scenery.

The Stratosphere

This tower, which is 350m high and provides visitors with 360-degree panoramic views, is the tallest independent observation tower in the US. Literally above this, there is a theme park that has a number of quite terrifying rides. These are not for the fainthearted.

Mandalay Bay

What makes the top of Mandala Bay different from any other hotel view is its location on the exact south tip of the strip where the road curves. Therefore, the Foundation Room has a near perfect view of it. There is a cover charge, however, it is sometimes free for a group of girls.

Seeing a Show

People say that there is no best show in Vegas. When asked if it is 'le Reve', the answer is no. Is it 'Love', it is no. How about 'O' or 'Blue Man Group'? It is no to both. Seventy percent (70%) of people who go to La Vegas watch a concert / show, some of them book ahead of time, before leaving home, but most visitors watch the show in their hotel or buy tickets on the same day. If they are not desperate to watch a particular show, they can decide on the day they want to go, then show up at the booth and choose. Majority of the big hotels have their own version of Cirque du Soleil. Generally, they are alike when it comes to quality production and impressive, remarkable entertainment.
